ParT time Montessori Elementary Outings Assistant & Aftercare Lead

Serving children ages 6 to 12 years old, Monday - Friday, 15 - 20 hours per week, 2 - 6pm.

Under the direction of the children's classroom teachers, the Elementary Aftercare chaperones elementary children on a variety of small group outings, supervises whole classes during lunch or recess, and is trained to direct and lead the Elementary After School program.  This position includes both support roles and the opportunity for leadership.  You will be sharing the responsibility for maintaining the safety and well-being of elementary aged children. What your job will entail:

  • Responsibility for the care of 10 - 20 children during after school care, and small groups during school
  • Responsibility for scheduling, and parent/school communication regarding, the Elementary Aftercare Program
  • Working with a partner to cultivate a safe & respectful social environment for the children
  • Scheduling and facilitating activities and outings like trips to museums, swimming lessons, or free outdoor play
  • Drive our school vans, take children on the bus, walk with them
  • Ensure that materials and spaces are well cared for
  • Plan and prepare daily snack

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience caring for Elementary age students
  • Have some Montessori knowledge or an interest in learning about it
  • Have a joyful or caring disposition and love of working with children
  • Have gentle but firm classroom/group management skills
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Has the ability to interact with parents and co-workers in a warm, empathetic, confident manner
  • Have some flexibility with hours and scheduling
  • Be creative (you may have to come up with games or crafts on the spot)
  • Have experience leading children in outdoor games, gardening, skits, music, art or cooking

Full Time Montessori Elementary Outings and Aftercare Assistant

Serving children ages 6 to 12 years old, Monday - Friday, 35 - 40 hours per week, 9:15 - 5:15pm.  

Under the direction of the children's classroom teachers, the Elementary Aftercare assistant prepares and maintains needed materials and the classroom environment; shares the responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children; helps to arrange and supervise outings; attends occasional staff meetings and trainings; and models integrity and curiosity about the world and respect for the Montessori approach to development and to all children and adults in our community. To apply send your resume to info@pacificcrest.org
