Dear Families,

We have some important documents for you. Be sure to check your student folders in the next couple days, Middle school’s will be handed out by teachers.

  • Summer Community Events: we have some great community building opportunities this summer; Middle School Potlucks, Ross Park Playdates, Farm picnics and Farm Harvest Tuesdays.

  • Critical dates for 2017-18 school year: These are just some of the critical dates for next year. You will receive a full Annual Calendar in the summer mailings. These items have been posted to our online calendar as well.

  • School Roster information to confirm. Please review your information carefully to ensure that mailing addresses, student birthdates, cell phone numbers and email addresses are correct. If you anticipate any changes between now and September 1st make sure to let us know- The deadline to make changes is June 14th.

  • Photos of your students taken by Primary parent Carlen Luke for our Annual Fund campaign. If you would like a digital copy of this photo let know.

  • Class photos for those who ordered prints.

Also Note: If you have fresh flowers that you can donate to transform the big room for graduation, please bring them to the Middle School Friday morning.

Parents of Primary before/aftercare students are invited to an ice cream social to celebrate the end of a great year.


8th Grade Graduation

Friday, June 9th, 7pm-9pm

All Pacific Crest families are welcome to attend graduation, please RSVP to the front desk.


All School Picnic & Potluck

Tuesday, June 13th, 5:30-7:30

This is our last all school event of the year at a beautiful new spot, Meridian Park. Bring a blanket to sit on, food to share that serves 10-12 people (with serving utensils) and your own cups, plates and flatware.

Little Library

Have you seen our beautiful Little Library in the outer courtyard? Don’t forget to check it out for summer reading. Bring a book to share or take one home to read! 

First Farm Harvest Tuesdays: Tuesday, June 20th

Families are invited to sign up to help with harvesting, weeding, preparing produce for the market and farm stand and much more. Every Tuesday Starting June 20th and ending September 5th. You may sign up by the front desk; an online sign up is coming soon. If you have questions contact Jutta von Stieglitz via email or by phone (919)-667-5185.


Family Picnics at the Pacific Crest Farm (All ages): Sunday, June 25th, 11am-3pm

The first of two family picnics at the farm! Bring a lunch and picnic supplies. Join farmers Bob and Jen for a tour of the property at 1pm. This is a wonderful way to see the farm and socialize with other PCS families. Please leave pets at home. The second picnic is July 15th.

Aftercare Summer Program- Tomorrow is the final day to get the early bird pricing for summer childcare.

Annual Fund! - It's here… The Annual Fund Campaign has begun! Brochures have been mailed, the Gallery is decorated, now it's time for you to pledge or donate! This year we have made it easier for you to investigate and apply for an employer match. Go to our website and see if your employer matches and how to double, triple or even quadruple your impact! Watch for our updated totals in the main lobby as the weeks go on. Pledge cards and donations can be turned in to the front desk or credit card payments can be made online here. Remember, we accept installments too. Thank you for your support!

Professional Development Day NO-SCHOOL, NO-CHILDCARE Monday, March 13th - This day provides a rare opportunity for staff to observe in other Montessori Schools or High Schools that attract our graduates, then meet and reflect on their observations.

All-Parent Education Evening Wednesday, March 15th 7pm “Montessori education presents a radically different – and radically effective – educational approach that may be the best method we’ve got to ensure the optimal cognitive, social, and emotional development of every child.”  Dr. Steve Hughes

We are excited to welcome Dr. Hughes, a pediatric neuropsychologist. He is a sought after expert on brain development and education. One parent from each family is required to attend, attendance counts towards volunteer hours. Childcare will be available for enrolled students.

Spring Parent Conferences Wednesday, March 22nd NOON DISMISSAL Thursday, March 23rd and Friday, March 24th NO SCHOOL Conference sign-up sheets are posted by the classroom doors for Primary and Elementary, and at the front desk for Middle School. Childcare please note: a special registration form is required for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during conferences.

Note: If you are in Erika’s class or Chuck’s mentor group you have already had your spring conference.

PCC Scrip cards - Do you shop at PCC Natural Markets? When you purchase one of their Scrips cards they will donate 5% to us! First you buy a card from us loaded with $18, you spend that at PCC like a debit card and then every time you add money to your card at the store we will get 5%! It’s an easy way to support a sustainable, local business and our school at the same time.

Coffee & Tea with Dorrie & Jen Costigan

Friday, January 20th, 8:45am

Join us for a great conversation over a cup of coffee or tea tomorrow morning in the aftercare room. The topic for tomorrow’s gathering will be “responding to your child when he/she is angry or upset”. Jen Costigan, who is Toddler, Primary and Elementary trained will join us. We will also be offering evening opportunities for similar discussions in the future. An evening opportunity is coming up February 28th at 7pm.


Primary Parent Education

Wednesday, January 25th, 6pm

Prepare to join our teachers as they present the mathematics curriculum in depth. One parent from each Primary family must attend. Hours will count towards your volunteer hours. Childcare will be provided for enrolled students, sign up at the front desk by January 24th. Please Note: this meeting starts at 6pm


NO SCHOOL- Teacher Prep Day

Monday, January 30th

Teachers and staff will be spending the day in our environments, brushing up on some trainings and meeting together. Childcare is not provided.


Elementary Curriculum Night

Wednesday, February 1st, 7pm

Prepare to join our teachers as they present the language curriculum in depth. One parent from each Elementary family must attend. Hours will count towards your volunteer hours. Families of other levels are welcome! Childcare will be provided for enrolled students, a sign up will be on the front desk next Friday.


Primary Open House

February, 8th 5pm-7pm

Open House is a special time for your child to show you their work in the classroom. Your child’s teacher will be sending a letter with more details and information about signing up for a time slot. Childcare will be available for enrolled siblings so that your child can have your full attention, sign up will be on the front desk.

Donation Request

Do you have extra children’s clothes at home? We like to keep some extra pants, shirts, socks and underwear for boys and girls ages 3-6 available to our Primary students. If you would like to donate some, please give them to a Primary teacher or an Aftercare staff member.

Parent Coordinator Meeting Monday, January 9th, 7pm

Classroom parent coordinators meet monthly to share ideas and plan events. Notes from this meeting will be posted to the bulletin boards in the middle school and front desk area. Lower & Upper Elementary Introduction for current families

Tuesday, January 10th, 7pm Elementary Intro Night

Are your students moving from Primary to Elementary soon? Or from Lower Elementary to Upper? This year we are offering an Elementary Intro Night specifically for you! Sonya and Erika will do a joint presentation on the 1st through 3rd grade program and Erin will present for 4th & 5th grades. Childcare will be available for enrolled students, please sign-up at the front desk.

Re-Enrollment January 6th - February 15th

Look for your re-enrollment paperwork in the mail next week. We encourage you to talk with your teacher and or Dorrie if you have any questions about next year.
