PCS New Typing Club Student
Parent Information

Pacific Crest takes a step-by-step approach to introducing our students to technology. As part of this, we ensure that they establish good basic skills first, including touch typing, before moving on to more advanced use of computer resources.

Your student will have been provided with login information from their teacher already. We are providing this information here in case your student wishes to log in and use the typing tutor at home.

Logging in From Home

To access the typing tutor web site your student will have to log in to their secure school Google Apps account first.

Your student has been provided with a Pacific Crest student account and password to use at school. The account is in the format firstname.lastname@pacificcrest.org. They may have already logged in with a teacher and changed their password to something only they know (they are asked to not share passwords with other students, though we do keep a copy of their passwords in an unlocked file cabinet that they can access).

To log in to your student’s school account using a Chromebook

  • If not already logged in with their school credentials, log out of the current user first
  • Click “add user” on the bottom of the Chromebook login screen
  • Enter your child’s username in the form firstname.lastname@pacificcrest.org
  • Enter your child’s password (if you have trouble or they have forgotten their password, email help@pacificcrest.org and we can easily reset it for you)

To log on using a computer with Google Chrome

  • In the upper right corner of the browser window, click the button for the current user. It may show that person's name, email, or an icon like this: [Sign in] .
  • Click Switch Person.
  • At the bottom of the window, click Add Person.
  • Enter your child’s username in the form firstname.lastname@pacificcrest.org
  • Enter your child’s password (if you have trouble or they have forgotten their password, email help@pacificcrest.org and we can easily reset it for you)
  • Your students bookmarks and saved settings will be synchronized after this and you may easily switch to other Chrome user profiles using the user-switcher button

To log in with a browser other than Chrome (Safari, IE)

  • It will be easiest to log out of any existing Google login and log back in with your student’s account
  • Simply visit accounts.google.com in your browser at home. Make sure to log out of any existing Google Login
  • On accounts.google.com:
  • Enter your child’s username in the form firstname.lastname@pacificcrest.org
  • Enter your child’s password (if you have trouble or they have forgotten their password, email help@pacificcrest.org and we can easily reset it for you)

Accessing the Typing Club site

Once you have logged in to Google using your student's Pacific Crest Account, simply visit pacificcrest.typingclub.com.  Once there, you will see the following screen:

Your student can then simply click the login button labeled “Sign in using your Google account.” They will then have access to their current typing class. All of their typing work (done at home or at school) is automatically saved to the same account.
