Primary Guide

We are currently seeking an AMI trained Primary guide to take over a classroom of 25 children for the 2017/2018 school year.  We are a well established community of dedicated families and staff that together create a vibrant Montessori program across the primary, elementary and adolescent levels.  Our urban campus, home to all three levels, is located in a residential neighborhood in Seattle, WA, where we are easily accessible by bike and local transit.  Our rural campus, utilized by all three levels, is a working farm with nut and fruit orchards, ponds, wetlands, and commercially productive organic gardens.  It is on nearby Vashon Island and is only a moderate drive and ferry ride away.

After School Elementary Program Assistant, Part Time

Do you enjoy working with children? Do you have experience as a nanny, a camp counselor, or working with children? Pacific Crest School is in search of an Assistant to work in our Aftercare Montessori Program for a mixed age group of 6 to 12 year olds.  Prior Montessori experience is preferred, but not required.  This position is part time, at 12 - 15 hours per week, from 3:00 - 5:15 PM.  

This program assistant will:

Accompany and support children's outings to local libraries and parks, driving a 10 passenger van; Plan and prepare a daily snack for the children and clean up (children may be involved in both the preparation and the clean up); Help maintain the Montessori “Prepared Environment” by cleaning and arranging material; Observe children, with our support and direction, to determine where you can help them to grow and contribute to the group with independence; Oversee after school activities like arts and crafts, outdoor play, etc...

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience with Elementary age students (6 to 12 years old); Have some Montessori knowledge or a desire to learn and adopt new ways of interacting with children, guided by our training and feedback;Have a joyful disposition and a love of working with children of this age; Have gentle but firm classroom management skills; Be an excellent communicator; Have the ability to interact with parents and co-workers in a warm, empathetic, and confident manner; Have some flexibility with hours and scheduling; Be patient with children and creative (you may have to come up with games or crafts on the spot); Have experience leading children in outdoor games, sports, gardening, skits, music, art or cooking.
